Finished Project Feelings

Image
When thinking about all the hardships and laughs I've had with my teammates for the past three months, I am quite proud of our film. Although it changed drastically from the original, I believe it still covers the grounds I wanted it to. Things like the audio corrupting and the issues editing really made me take a step back and problem solve myself before asking for help. It was this that helped me grow as the editor and director.     A lot of changes were made throughout the filming of our movie opener. Like renaming Faelon to Tristan, and deleting the entire second scene for time issues, were really discouraging for me since I really worked hard for these elements only for someone to say it wasn't going to be in the film. This was especially tiring when after writing the original script, I then had to rewrite it myself.     I poured my heart and skill into making the best film I could since I hate doing anything without 100%. I learned to rely o...

Editing Post 2 :)

Image
Editing this movie opener has been a mission and a half to complete. I've spent 6 hours editing and fine tuning the 2-minute film as well as trying to improve the quality of the audio. My companion that helped me edit was Matej, he spent an hour with the second scene, and I made some adjustments to it to make it cohesive with the rest of the film which took another 2 hours, as I am a novice in editing.     Luckily, we are done filming, and we are on the last stretch of editing before we post the video. I can't properly put into words how jubilant I am to finally finish this video and move on to other projects. I hope you will enjoy the film as much as we have.

Updated Script and Storyboard

Image
When filming our movie opener, the original scrippy wrote was too short to capture a suitable length for the video. So We used our real life dialogue to base the new script off of. Thing like talking about jellyfish and an abrupt leave were both based on real life information.  Another thing we did was cut away the entire second scene. We eventually realized 4 scenes would make the video too long and we over compensated for when it was too short. We also swapped from a mall to a park entirely or the coffee shop. We also made some character changes. Like renaming Faelon to Tristan and Demetrius to DJ. These minor changes really brought the film to life.

Lighting

Image
The lighting in the film is usually very bright and vibrant. The use of natural lighting is seen all throughout the film. This makes the film seem dream-like and slightly delusional. The only time this change is when Tristain has a reality snap to a dark and gloomy lighting to shift the mood to depressing. This is done to show the contrast between his delusions and what is real     I did edit the lighting in the film to seem brighter and to seem with more color. Also, some editing was done to make the delusions seem darker and broodier. I edited lighting for the entirety of the film to really emphasize the contrast of what is real and fake.

Group Dynamics

Image
We are making good progress with our project. Only scene two remains, I have already edited scenes 1 and 3. After we just need our CCR, and we should be done. We have all done what we assigned to each other. I would like to give credit to my little sibling, Robin, who helped us with the camera work in the first and last scene. Also, to my father who helped with props and explained how to edit. I personally found it hard to give my teammates motivation to show up or take initiative, as I have found myself doing a large scale of work like script work and the majority of editing. So, if it seems my team members work seems different than mine, you can assume I did the majority of it. Otherwise, it has all been smooth sailing.
